Money isn't just about dollars and cents. The ancient Aztecs used chocolate for money, and Yap islanders used 500-lb. stones! So what is money and how does it work? Take a trip to Moneyville and find out. In this colorful and vibrant city, explore how money is made, spent, saved, earned, and traded at the money factory, bank, anti-counterfeiting lab, stock market, shopping district, and international port. Through a variety of fun hands-on activities, explore the history, science, and culture behind money and come away with valuable math and economic skills you can use every day.

Find out how money is made, explore the history of money, barter for goods, put your face on a million dollar bill, explore security measures used in U.S. currency, and use high-tech equipment to find fake bills in the anti-counterfeiting lab. 3) The Bank. Learn how money moves through the economy, from the Federal Reserve to the local bank to you. Discover how compound interest can really add up, follow the life of a dollar bill, and see what a million dollars looks like. At the Kids' Bank, children learn math basics and role-play with oversized coins, a teller window, and a kid-size ATM. 4) Dollars and Sense.  Try your hand at balancing your budget between needs and wants. Learn about inflation and discover what a car will cost in the year 2020. Learn about the real cost of credit and search for the best buy during a virtual shopping trip. 5) To Market, To Market. Learn about supply and demand as you run a lemonade stand and see how long you can stay in business. Take the floor of a simulated stock market and compete with other day traders as you watch the flashing ticker board. Younger visitors open shop at the Kids' Market, complete with play money, cash registers, and produce scales. 6.) Global Trade. Explore the interdependence of international trade and markets, the role of trade in world cultures, foreign currency exchange, and how wealth is distributed around the world. Guess the mystery imports inside shipping crates, view a display of families and their possessions from around the world, and discover where clothing is manufactured by reading the label inside your shirt!
